Introduction

If I say to you "Don't think of a white horse. Don't think

of a white house. Don't you dare think of a white horse."

What will you honestly be thinking about? A white horse,

right? That is exactly what the law does. The law instead

makes you to sin more(1Cor 15:56). When the law says "thou

shall not steal", trust me, you will instead be thinking of

stealing. So tell me. Should we follow God's law, God's Grace

or both? After carefully reading this entire book, you should

be able to come out with a clear understanding of what God

wants us to do.

Permit me to provide to you the definitions of 'Law' and

'Grace'. The 'law' refers to all the do's and don'ts given to

Moses by God at mount Sinai. These commandments are not

just 10 as most of us think. They are over 613 in number i.e

the 10 commandments plus 603 more. These

commandments can be found in the book of Exodus(Ex 20 -

Ex 40).The law can also be referred to as the mosaic law or

sinai law or old covenant. Grace on the other hand refers to

the mercy of God which came by Jesus. Grace is the

exceptional unmerited favor of God. The power of the Holy

Spirit is Grace. Grace = Jesus. For Grace to work effectively,

nothing else can be added to it. Therefore, Grace + 0 =

Everything  or  Grace + nothing = Everything.

What we need to understand here is that the law is like a

'controlling perfectionist husband'. No matter how hard

his wife tries, the moment she does just one thing wrong, the

perfectionist husband would condemn her for that little wrong

thing she just did. That is exactly what the law does. When

you do your best to do many good things, the moment you do

one bad thing by accident, the law would condemn you i.e the

law would make you feel guilty.

What very important statement I often tell people is:

'grace only, goodness flows'. This means that the person who

is strictly under the grace of God ends up doing most of the

good things required by the law even more than the person

who iunder the law. That is because grace has power and is

accompanied with love meanwhile the law is so empty, painful

and full of condemnation.

The law(old covenant) is all about "do this and then God

will do that
". But Grace(New covenant) is all about "believe

what Christ has already done and thank him". In other words,

under the law, we want to make God to do things for us; and

we think that if we do things in a particular way, God will

repay us with more blessings. But under Grace, we just

believe and thank God for what he has already done and just

let his spirit(Holy Spirit) to tell us what to do.

       * Under the law, we strive for deserved favor but under Grace,
                                                                                              we receive undeserved favor *
